Fiber-reinforced restoration of a structurally compromised tooth
Patient presented to the dental office with an existing composite resin supported by carbon fiber post in a non vital molar tooth. Carbon fiber posts can help to retain the composite resin restoration, but they do not support the remaining sound tooth structure. A fracture of a cusp occurred.

Once the existing restoration was removed and the shell of the tooth was restored, polyethylene fibers were placed to reduce the stress to both the composite resin and the remaining sound tooth structure
